Block 58 wells
By Marcel, Chin-A-Lien, Petroleum & Energy Advisor, Published on May 27, 2025
Block 58, located offshore Suriname in the prolific Guyana-Suriname Basin, has emerged as one of the most significant new frontiers in global deepwater oil exploration.
Operated by TotalEnergies (50%, operator) and APA Corporation (50%), the block has delivered a sequence of discoveries since 2020 that has reshaped Suriname’s energy outlook.
Following the success of its exploration campaign, TotalEnergies and APA reached a Final Investment Decision (FID) in October 2024 for the development of the Sapakara and Krabdagu oilfields under the GranMorgu Project.
This project positions Suriname as a future deepwater oil producer with strategic significance in the Western Hemisphere, drawing on the success of neighboring Guyana’s Stabroek Block.

A Noble Corporation Fleet Status Report publication of May 2025, indicates the following drilling activities.
I assume appraisal and development wells for the Gran Morgu project, that is indicated to consist of a total of 32 wells.
Noble Developer + 7G Drillship TBN:
16-well (estimated 1,060 days) contracts each with TotalEnergies in Suriname scheduled to commence between Q4 2026 and Q1 2027. Together, the firm revenue of the two contracts is $753 million.
These contracts allow for an additional $297 million in revenue for Noble Corporation, tied to collective operational performance program with TotalEnergies.
Plus four one-well extension options per rig
